Orange Freezing Rain Warning in Effect

Environment Canada has issued an Orange Freezing Rain Warning for our area with significant freezing rain expected Sunday afternoon through early Monday morning.

Be prepared

Highlands East Fire Chief Chris Baughman wants to remind residents to take action now, before the storm, to be prepared for bad roads, closures and power outages.

• Fill containers with water
• If you have a generator, take it out, clear an area for it, make sure it is working and get extra fuel
• Stock up on food this morning if needed while roads are in good condition
• Adjust travel plans accordingly to avoid needing to be out during the storm

Extended power outages and facilities closures possible

In the event of an extended power outage, Highlands East will open warming centres and certain facilities may be closed due to poor conditions.
