Lessons
We are offering Lifesaving Society Swim for Life and Star Patrol levels in two week sessions (9 lessons plus a make up date if needed) or twice-a-week all-summer lessons on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Leadership courses for Bronze Medal Awards, a National Lifeguard Course, and a Swim Instructor Course are also available.
What to expect from our Lessons
Our swimming lessons focus on boosting your child’s swimming abilities and advancing through the Lifesaving Society swimming lessons. Our instructors specialize in enhancing your child's confidence, abilities, and stamina in the water.
Open Swim
Whether you're here to swim laps, lounge by the pool, or enjoy some playtime, our Open Swim is open to all, for all.
What to expect from our Open Swim
Open Swim offers a time for everyone to enjoy the pool at their leisure. Please take a moment to review the Pool Rules below to ensure everyone's safety. Additionally, familiarize yourself with our Admissions Policy for details on guardian supervision before your visit.
Special Saturday Pool Programming
Saturday mornings at the Cardiff Pool are for special one-off programming events that run from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and cover all sorts of fun and educational topics.
Pricing and Registration
Special Programming is open to everyone. Members and non-members alike can register and pay at the pool for just $5 per person.
Cash only. You must pay at the pool during any Open Swim session. No refunds.
You must register ahead of time. For example, if you wish to participate in Saturday, July 11's Water Games, the last day to register is Friday, July 10. You cannot register on the day of the event.
List of Events
July 4: Safeguard Program
This program is designed for parents, guardians, counsellors or any people that may accompany young people to pools or waterfronts. This event will focus on water safety awareness, accident prevention and principles of aquatic safety supervision. Participants must be 12 years of age or older.
July 11: Water Games
Fun and organized water games for swimmers of all ability levels. Everyone is welcome so long as pool admission criteria are met. Games will take place in the shallow-end but feel free to bring your own life jacket.
July 18: Junior Lifeguard Club
Junior Lifeguard Club is offered through the Lifesaving Society as an alternative to regular swim lessons. This session is a glimpse into the program to survey any interest in our facility hosting this club. Join in as a family or with friends to learn lifesaving knowledge, improve swimming and other aquatic skills, develop teamwork, leadership and fitness. Participants must be 8 years or older with Swimmer 3 or higher abilities.
July 25: Lifejacket Day
Get hands-on experience with different types of lifejackets and Personal Floatation Devices. Understand the proper fit, safety features and consequences of not wearing one. Bring your own to try it out in the water or use ours in fun, safe and organized activities. Participants can be any age or any swimming ability however pool admission criteria must be met.
August 1: Boating Safety
Approximately one fifth of drownings occur during boating activities. With so many lakes, rivers and open water around us it is important to know the key things that will keep you safe. Learn in a fun and organized environment how to be safe while boating. All swimming abilities are welcome but pool admission criteria must be met.
August 8: Swim Team Training
Learn swim team techniques and compete in races! Participants must be level Swimmer Level 3 or higher.
August 15: Water Safety Challenges
Experience fun organized Water Safety Challenges while in the pool. All swimming abilities are welcome but pool admission criteria must be met.
August 22: Family Water Olympics
Bring your family and/or friends for fun water Olympics. There will be prizes for the Bronze, Silver and Gold winners. All swimming abilities are welcome but pool admission criteria must be met.
