Highlands East Fire Department Recruiting Volunteer Firefighters

The Highlands East Fire Department (HEFD) is now accepting applications for volunteer firefighters to serve the communities of Highlands East.

No previous experience is necessary

Successful applicants are enrolled in a comprehensive firefighter certification program leading to certifications in NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and Level II, together with NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations. This is the same training and certification delivered in a college pre-service fire program. Volunteer firefighters are paid for their time responding to calls for service and for training.

About volunteer firefighters

Volunteer firefighters respond to fires, motor vehicle collisions and medical emergencies, and they support fire prevention and public education across the municipality.

Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, hold a valid Ontario Class G driver's licence, and live or work in an area served by one of the HEFD fire stations. Additional qualifications may be requested on the application form.
