2026 Municipal Election

Municipal Elections in Ontario are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. The election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 with the next term of office set to begin on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

  • Nomination period begins.

Monday, June 1, 2026

  • Last day to review or change your school support designation. Visit school-support.mpac.ca to learn more.

Wednesday, August 12, 2026

Friday, August 21, 2026

  • Nomination period ends.

Friday, October 16, 2026

  • Early voting begins.

Friday, October 23, 2026

  • Last day to register as a third party advertiser.

Monday, October 26, 2026

  • Election day.

Sunday, November 15, 2026

  • New term of office begins.

Thursday, December 31, 2026

  • End of campaign period for candidates and third party advertisers.
  • Last day to file a Notice of Extension, Form 6, to continue campaigning to erase a deficit.

Tuesday, March 30, 2027 at 2:00 p.m.

  • Deadline for candidates and third party advertisers to file the initial financial statement.

Wednesday, June 30, 2027

  • End of extended campaign period.

Friday, September 24, 2027 at 2:00 p.m.

  • Deadline for candidates and third party advertisers to file the supplementary financial statement (applies only to those who extended their campaign period).

Electronic Voting

Highlands East will be using Internet/Telephone voting to collect and tabulate votes. Eligible electors can cast their votes between October 16, 2026 and Election Day (October 26, 2026).
