IB&O Rail Trail: Farr Road to Tory Hill
This popular multi-use trail was once a section of the Irondale, Bancroft & Ottawa railway. The trail is relatively flat, making it a pleasant walk or bicycle ride, 5.5 km in length. Be aware that it is shared with motorized recreational vehicles and horses. There is parking for a few cars at the Farr Road trailhead and a lovely park with picnic tables, playground equipment, toilet and ample parking in Tory Hill.
Numerous Geocaches dot the trail. The I.B.&O Rail Trail (Historic Lime Kiln) cache marks the site of the kiln where, in the early 1900s, lime was heated to make mortar which was picked up by the train. This cache is 1.2 km from the Farr Road end of the trail. Look for the trailhead on the east side of the railbed.
