Places for People's annual fundraising race, The Highland Yard takes place on Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Minden. Places for People provides affordable, supportive housing for those in need throughout the Haliburton Highlands, including one property in Cardiff, right here in Highlands East.

Celebrate Canada Day in Highlands East

Celebrate Canada Day by exploring the communities of Highlands East. Enjoy music, food, games, historical displays and so much more. Get your passport stamped at each location to receive a ballot for $100 in gift certificates to be drawn before the fireworks in Gooderham.

At 9:00AM start the day with breakfast at the Cardiff Legion ($5) and check out a display of local history at the Cardiff Country Store. Open house at the Fire Hall

10:00AM at the Highland Grove Community Centre, children can join a scavenger hunt, paint a stone and make a bird feeder. Displays of pine needle baskets, painted paddles, and taxidermy animals and music lessons. Refreshments served. The fire department will be present with equipment.

At 12:00PM join in singing O Canada with the raising of the flag ceremony at the Wilberforce Red Cross Outpost. There will be live entertainment followed by free sandwiches and cake, open house at the Fire Hall and horse drawn wagon rides.

Go to the curling club at 1:00PM for a variety of big games and Rocks & Rings.

Come to Tory Hill at 3:00PM for first hand history with storytelling by colourful local residents.

At 4:00PM finish the day in Gooderham with live entertainment, cake and refreshments, BBQ, face painting, fossil display, children’s program, Irondale display, open house at the Fire Hall and grand finale fireworks!

Over 150 Prizes to be raffled at the Keith Tallman Memorial Area in Wilberforce on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Browse the tables and purchase tickets from 1PM to 3PM and 5:30PM to 8PM.

Plus, enjoy kids' games and activities, snack bar, face painting, exhibit tables and create your own hat at the Mad Hatter table before showing off your creation during the Hat Parade at 7:30PM.

NEW Early Bird Tables raffle starts at 7PM!

Draw begins at 8PM – you must be there to collect your prize!

Plus, enjoy a Spaghetti Dinner at the Lloyd Watson Memorial Centre in Wilberforce from 5PM to 7PM for just $10/adult and $5/child (kids under 5 eat free)

There's something for everyone at the Wilberforce Agricultural Fair!

Gates open at 6PM on Friday, August 9th and at 9AM on Saturday, August 10th. Admission on Friday night is FREE compliments of our sponsors Wilberforce Guardian Pharmacy and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 624. Join us for an authentic country fair. Friday night events include children’s dog show, Lions Club food booth and pony pull. Saturday morning we kick off with a tractor parade at 10AM into the Fair grounds. Come with an appetite as the Lions Club will have their breakfast food booth open. The days events include horse drawn wagon rides, sheep shearing, pedal tractor pull, Gord Kidd and Friends on stage, pony rides, horse draw, petting zoo, frog show, nail driving competition, penny raffle, bouncy castles, and much more.

Get your Questions Answered at the Highlands East Visitor Information Centre mid-May through Thanksgiving

The Highland East Vistor Information Centre is located at 2786 Essonville Line in Wilberforce (at the Curling Club) and is open daily, mid-May through Thanksgiving from 10:00AM through 4:00PM (closed Tuesdays) and offers mineral permission to collect forms and directions, geocaching information and GPS rentals, trails, events and other general area information.
