Parks and playground equipment closures

To maintain the health and wellness of our community, all municipal playground structures and equipment as well as basketball and tennis courts are closed to the public. These closures are a preventative measure for the health and well-being of all community members.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “[the] novel coronavirus may remain on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days, depending on several conditions, including the type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment.”

Playground Equipment

Playground equipment is considered a high-touch surface and cannot be sanitized after each use. Signage will be posted at these locations to inform people of the closure.

Restricted use of playground structures and equipment is not easily enforced. We ask that all parents, caregivers and grandparents help us implement this measure by talking with your children and helping to keep them off the structures.

Basketball and Tennis Courts

The basketball courts and tennis courts throughout the Municipality will also be closed to the public. Signage will be posted at these locations. Complete closure of these spaces has been implemented to prevent groups from forming at these locations.

Parks and Green Spaces

Parks are not entirely closed. You may still enjoy green spaces as long as you remember to practice the appropriate physical distancing. Keep at least two metres away from other members of the public.
