Attention: Person(s) who may have purchased a generator from the Highlands East Fire Department

The Municipality of Highlands East has been working closely with the Electrical Safety Authority throughout their investigation into the sale of unapproved generators and/or mislabeled generators.

The Municipality believes that there were a number of generators sold under the auspice of the Highlands East Volunteer Fire Department that did not or are incapable of complying with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification of compliance. As such, these generators may be unsafe to operate and may pose a safety risk.

The Municipality requests those who purchased such a generator from the Volunteer Firefighters Association and/or the former Fire Chief to immediately cease using said generators and to contact the Municipality of Highlands East no later than October 11, 2007 (before end of business day).
